Chaparral started a, first ever, Angel Tree program for families in need within the Chaparral community. Angel tags were taken within the first hour of being out for display. We are excited to continue to expand our Angel Tree for future seasons to come.
Chaparral students and staff supported Alex's Lemonade Stand Charities by raising funds during two holiday community events. A booth was set up at the Very Cooley HOA Christmas party, in which over $200 was raised. A second event occurred during Chaparral's Annual Jingle Jog event. Special guest, Derrick Moore (the DBACKS "Lemonade Guy") came out for the second year in a row to support the cause! Our Shark community raised an additional $800 for a grand total of $1,038. Proceeds will benefit supporting an end to Childhood Cancer.

A Wall of Honor is housed in our main building depicting photographs of Veterans of our students and staff. Thank you for your service to all Veterans.
Thank you to our local Costco, located on Market Street, who donated 16 frozen turkeys which helped 16 Chaparral families for the holidays. The Chaparral Front Office Staff were honored to help hand over the donated turkeys.

Chaparral's Crayon Recycling Action Team is facilitated by 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Nelson, who supports students on campus with recycling broken crayons. Students meet after school to remove the wrappers, crush the crayons, and bake them into fun shapes using silicon molds. The shapes are then sold to students, and the proceeds benefit a local charity of the students' choice.
Title Coordinator, Mrs. DeFazio, worked with local businesses to secure donations of school supplies to help students kick off a new school year in style. The local Gateway Target donated 15 backpacks full of supplies that were gifted to Chaparral families in need!
Chaparral's Crayon Recycling Action Team, led by 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Nelson, rang in the in new year by selling repurposed crayon art. Students recycle broken and old crayons by melting them down and molding the wax into fun shapes. The art is then sold before school and the proceeds collected will be donated to a local charity of the team's choice.
Wanting to give back to the Shark Tank, a former Chaparral Shark, Andres Kent, organized a group of 25 volunteers (7 former Sharks) to complete an Eagle Project over Fall Break. Volunteers painted a multiplication chart, in school colors, on the primary playground.
A WallofHonor was created to showcase Veterans related to students and staff in the Chaparral Shark Tank! A photo of each Veteran with information was used to create a WallofHonor that was showcased during the annual Veterans Day Breakfast and remain on display to honor those who have served.
Chaparral students volunteered to assist 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Robyn Nelson, hosting an Alex's Lemonade Stand during the Very Cooley Christmas HOA party in the park! During the month of December, students helped raise over $1,000 to support children's cancer research.
