Assistant Principal

Dear Chaparral Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! My name is Angie Walker, and I am honored and excited to join Chaparral Elementary as your Assistant Principal.

This opportunity is especially meaningful to me because Chaparral has been an important part of my educational journey. Earlier in my career, I had the privilege of serving as a Literacy Coach at Chaparral, working alongside students and teachers to strengthen literacy instruction and support student achievement. Returning to Chaparral in this new role truly feels like coming home, and I am grateful to once again be part of this outstanding school community.

For the past 15 years, I have proudly served students and families in Higley Unified School District in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, Media Specialist, Literacy Coach, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every student can achieve at high levels when provided with strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and a supportive learning environment.

I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential.  At Chaparral, we are committed to educating the whole child by fostering curiosity, resilience, leadership, and a love of learning. By partnering with families and working collaboratively with our dedicated staff, we can ensure that each student is challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed.

I am also excited to support Chaparral’s commitment to the Leader in Me framework. Leader in Me helps students develop essential life skills such as responsibility, goal setting, collaboration, and self-confidence. By empowering students to recognize their strengths and take ownership of their learning, we are preparing them not only for academic success but also for success in life.
